Debi Martin, CVLS staff attorney in the Guardian ad Litem (GAL) for Minors program, will cover the skills required to be a successful GAL for a minor as well as the issues that may come up during the case. This training is for licensed attorneys interested in working as pro bono Guardians ad Litem for children through CVLS. No prior experience is necessary.

Seminar: Chapter 7 Bankruptcies

CVLS volunteers Sal Lopez and Justin Storer will review the basics of Chapter 7 Bankruptcies, including pre-filing considerations, alternatives, using Best Case, handling a trustee meeting, and more. When the training is over, you’ll be ready to take your first Chapter 7 case!

CVLS is recruiting and training a new generation of attorneys to assist and advise families who are experiencing financial difficulties as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through these new projects, CVLS volunteers will serve scores of new clients, including: homeowners struggling with mortgage payments, landlords who can’t pay their bills without rent, and people trying to collect on judgments or debts.
