Guardianship Resolved by Trio from Sidley Austin
Jose asked for help from CVLS in obtaining legal guardianship of his son. Jose’s son was born with a genetic disorder called Cri-du-chat (“Cat’s Cry”) Syndrome, which causes intellectual and developmental disabilities. These disabilities prevent Jose’s son from being able to make his own personal and financial decisions.
Sidley Austin LLP attorneys, Daniel Spira, Spencer Caro, and Lucas Grisham, took on Jose’s case. They assisted Jose in obtaining the appropriate supporting documents from his son’s doctor, drafted the legal paperwork, and appeared in court on Jose’s behalf.
Judge Alonso granted Jose’s Petition for Guardianship without a hitch. Thanks to his pro bono attorneys from Sidley, Jose is able to properly make decisions for and continue to take care of his son.
