Maria met with Arent Fox Schiff attorneys at the Metropolitan Family Services Howard & Evanston Community Center having been recently served with divorce papers. Maria’s 39-year marriage to her husband was coming to an end, and Maria needed support and representation in this stressful time. Roberto Martinez, an associate with Arent Fox Schiff, volunteered to represent Maria in her divorce case.
Roberto started by filing a Counter-Petition for Dissolution of Marriage for Maria. He then participated in the discovery process, making sure to obtain a full and complete disclosure of the parties’ incomes and assets. Roberto skillfully negotiated with opposing counsel to finalize the divorce with a settlement agreement and property division that was favorable to Maria. Thanks to Roberto’s pro bono advocacy, Maria had security and confidence going through one of life’s most emotionally taxing events.
