UNOFFICIAL MADE OFFICIAL

It’s Never Too Late to Adopt!

John and his life partner have been together for nearly 30 years. His partner’s daughter, S., grew up with John ever since she was just three years old. Although John and his partner never married, S. viewed John as her father. She lived with him up until she turned 18 and went off to college.

Life eventually got in the way, but this year John wanted to finally make things official by adopting S. John reached out to CVLS through our clinic at Old St. Mary’s Church. The case made its way to Shreya Babu, a summer intern from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Shreya teamed up with Supervising Attorney, Rob Zielinski, to file John’s case and finalize the adoption.

Since Shreya did not have her Rule 711 Law Student License, Rob appeared in court, but John and the Adoption Judge were happy to have Shreya sit in on the final hearing. Other than court, Shreya handled all aspects of the case, from drafting the initial petition to sending in a proposed judgment for entry. CVLS interns not only help our clients, but they learn valuable skills in a friendly environment.
