Description
Family Expedited Removal Management (FERM), is an emerging process implemented to address the families arriving at the southwest border who have entered outside of the Biden Administration’s recently announced lawful pathways. The program has been heavily criticized for, among other humanitarian violations, leaving vulnerable families little time to secure meaningful representation at hearings that will determine their fate in the United States. Despite the many obstacles built into FERM, Lyneshka Cruz Laureano of Zuma Law, LLC, has successfully represented families in these proceedings before the Chicago Immigration Court. She will share her experiences and recommendations for screening and advocating for families navigating this part of the complex immigration system, while they build a new life in the United States.
