CVLS Volunteer Katie Pancewicz was appointed as Guardian ad Litem (GAL) for Adrienne in an adult guardianship matter in 2021. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Katie was determined to ensure that Adrienne's voice was heard by the Court. Over the course of two years, Katie met with Adrienne several times, presented several GAL reports to the Court, and advocated tirelessly for her client's rights.

Throughout the case, Katie's unwavering commitment to Adrienne's best interests ultimately paid off. Despite initial objections to guardianship, Adrienne ultimately agreed that she needed the support of a guardian. This was a true testament to the impact that GALs can have in the lives of vulnerable adults, and a testament to the dedication of CVLS volunteers like Katie.

CVLS is proud to have volunteers like Katie who are willing to go the extra mile to ensure that clients like Adrienne receive the care and support they need. This case is a reminder of the importance of GALs in adult guardianship cases, and the critical role that pro bono legal work plays in ensuring that vulnerable members of our community are protected and supported.
