CVLS Empowers Mother to Advocate for Daughter with Down Syndrome.
CVLS's partnership with the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago proved to be invaluable in assisting Maria in obtaining guardianship of her adult daughter Mila, who has Downs Syndrome. Maria was referred to CVLS for help and her case was successfully petitioned in Cook County. Mila is now able to receive the care and attention she requires at a full-time school for students with special needs, where she also benefits from door-to-door bus transportation. Maria expressed her gratitude to CVLS for their guidance throughout the process.
The need for guardianship of adult children with special needs can be daunting and overwhelming for many parents. CVLS is proud to offer services and support to families in need of assistance. The successful petition for guardianship in this case was made possible through our partnership with the Consulate General of Mexico in Chicago, which aims to provide support and resources to the Mexican community in the United States. We continue to be committed to our mission of ensuring equal access to justice for all, and we are honored to have been able to assist Maria and Mila during this important and emotional time in their lives.
