Xoe Fiss is an artist and museum educator living in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She is passionate about making the arts meaningful and accessible for all ages and abilities. Fiss received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and her k-12 teaching certification from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a Master of Art in Art Education focusing on museum and community education from the University of Arizona.
Through her art, she experiments with means of recording her immediate surroundings, experiences, and relationships. Working in oil painting to create landscapes en plein air and portraits, gouache to create colorful, whimsical illustrations, and printmaking and mixed media to play with texture and pattern, she draws inspiration from artists of various periods and genres such as Ludwig Bemelmans, Julia Rothman, Anna Valdez, David Hockney, Grant Wood, Lenore Tawney, and Edward Hopper.
