It is with a heavy heart that we announce the departure of Matthew Hulstein from CVLS. Matt will be starting a new chapter of his life at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid where he will be advocating for low-income Minnesotans.
Matt first joined the CVLS family as a college intern in 2008. He then worked for CVLS as a PILI intern during the summer of 2011 and stayed on as a volunteer while he finished his third year of law school at DePaul. Graduating from law school in 2012 with highest service honors, Matt was recognized for volunteering the post pro bono hours in his graduating class. By the time he joined CVLS as a staff attorney in 2012, he already had a substantial CVLS caseload.
Matt has been a key member of the CVLS team. He was the supervising attorney of our Chancery Court Access to Justice Program and the newly created Mortgage Foreclosure Mediation Program. From assisting and mentoring a team of student interns and volunteers, to advocating for our clients in court, both in-person and remotely, Matt did it all. We will miss him dearly, but wish him all the best as he continues his journey.
Fare thee well.
