Description

As the world continues to grapple with the challenges of taming the coronavirus, some of the most harrowing stories of the past year have centered on the legions of healthcare workers stationed on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond the outpouring of public tributes to their courage and sacrifice, how will we care for these caretakers if the unthinkable happens? Despite putting themselves at great personal risk every day on the job, a great number of healthcare workers, especially those of immigrant backgrounds, have yet to determine how decisions about their own healthcare will be made in the event they are incapacitated. Join us for a timely panel discussion on the basics of powers of attorney for healthcare and property and their role in the estate planning process. Particular consideration will be given to the needs of the Filipino American community, a population that has been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic due to their significant presence in the health and caregiving professions.  This program will also function as a CLE-eligible training session for those interested in providing volunteer power of attorney services for FALA Chicago’s pro bono clinic, AGiLA (“Attorneys Giving Legal Advice”).
