This summer, CVLS created a new web-tool to help homeowners apply for a mortgage forbearance through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). The option allows homeowners to pause their mortgage payments for six months, and up to one year. When the forbearance is over, missed payments are deferred to the end of the loan or recapitalized through a modification. No foreclosure activity can occur during the forbearance. Most homeowners can access the necessary information and forms on CVLS' website. Homeowners who need additional help can contact CVLS through a dedicated hotline or email.
CVLS Can help renters and homeowners get the assistance they need! Renters, landlords, and homeowners affected by COVID-19 can visit cvls.org/covid19. If they need additional help, they can call 312-332-8785 or email COVID@cvls.org.
